Now that Apple has finally announced the iPhone 6s, answers to the big ‘should I upgrade now or wait for another year?’ question start to emerge. As is now tradition, the ‘tock’ of Apple’s tick-tock update cycle sees the iPhone 6s retain the same design as its predecessor, but with some key upgrades.

Here are some differences between the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 are alike, but the iPhone 6s is slightly bigger (138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1mm vs. 138.1 x 67 x 6.9mm) and heavier (143g vs. 129g).

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 both are equipped with 64-bit processors and motion coprocessors. But the new handset has a faster, more energy-efficient A9 chip with significantly faster graphics.

The iPhone 6s is expected to pack 2GB of RAM while the iPhone 6 has 1GB of memory. And storage wise both devices come in the same 16GB, 64GB and 128GB versions.

For the first time in years, Apple has brought a change in the resolution of the iPhones camera. The iSight camera in the iPhone 6s is a 12-megapixel sensor compared to 8-megapixel sensor on iPhone 6.

The iSight camera on the iPhone 6s also supports 4K video recording (3840 by 2160) at 30 frames per second, and additional slo-mo video support (1080p at 120fps and 720p at 240fps).

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 have virtually the same usage time though the new iPhone generation has a smaller battery, as per the leaks.

On the connectivity front, the iPhone 6s supports faster 4G LTE (LTE-A), better wireless (802.11a/b/g/n/ac with MIMO vs. 802.11a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth (4.2 vs. 4.0).

The iPhone 6s features a second-generation Touch ID fingerprint sensor built into the home button that will be faster and more reliable than its predecessor.

Though, both devices will support iOS 9, the iPhone 6s will have new 3D Touch multitouch features and offers Live Photos and Motion wallpaper backgrounds.

The iPhone 6s is priced at £539 for the 16GB model, £619 for the 64GB model and £699 for the 128GB model. iPhone 6s Plus will be available for a suggested retail price of £619 for the 16GB model, £699 for the 64GB model and £789 for the 128GB model.
